The new Progressive Metal album releases for the week of January 23, 2013 are here and this is a seriously amazing week for new releases. For starters, we’ve got the long-awaited Target Earth from the legendary Canadian progressive thrash band Voivod, the amazing Enigma from the U.K.’s Aeon Zen and the progressive (primarily) instrumental metal album from Syrian (and now based in Canada) guitarist Shant Hagopian’s project Semantic Saturation (featuring a killer lineup of Derek Sherinian (keys), Virgil Donati (drums) and Ric Fierabracci (bass) as well as Vanden Plas vocalist Andy Kuntz on the concluding, epic prog metal song). This week also sees the release of the debut album, One, by Brazilian melodic prog metal band Vandroya (fronted by female vocalist Daisa Munhoz) and Norewgian progressive power metal band Tellus Requiem. If that’s not enough for you all (and come on, is there ever really enough great music?), the new Swiss band Time Grid has just put out their awesome debut album of very sophisticated, rhythmically and harmonically complex progressive rock/metal and lastly, the debut album by 17-old (!) U.S. solo artist James Van Cleaf.
(Note to bands and fans: please let us know if any albums are missing from this week’s release schedule and we will gladly include them. No demos please but we will include E.P.’s if they’re available for purchase. If you do decide to purchase any of this week’s albums please do so via the links below as that does help to fund this webzine.)
