Prog Metal New Releases: 03/08//13

The new Progressive Metal album releases for the week of March 8, 2013 are here. This week we’ve got 12 (!) new releases from all over the prog metal spectrum (a few are actually older than this week but we feel they deserve some wider attention so we included them here.)  For starters, we’ve got the new amazing album by Swedish guitar maestro, Mattias Eklundh’s solo project Freak Guitar  (not to be confused with his band Freak Kitchen.)  This album has 40 tracks and has a killer lineup of guest musicians.  We’ve got four primarily solo projects including the U.S. progressive post-rock project The Soft Breaking, Middle Eastern-influenced metal from Anas Ibn Malek Abid. the Czech ambient, electronic groove metal of Between The Planets. and the progressive doom metal of Symptoms Of Insanity.  We also have some more experimental projects from Russia’s Baradj and Germany’s amazing avant-gardists Retarded Noise Squad.  Finally for those of you needing the heavier side of things, we’ve got the Christian prog metal of the U.S.’ Catechist, the Djent-styled metal of Emissary (also from the U.S.) and the wild technical death metal of Norway’s Okular.  Lots to listen to this week and almost all of it you can stream in full right from the BandCamp links in this post.  We hope you enjoy checking ’em all out as much as we did!

Note to bands and fans: please let us know if any albums are missing from this week’s release schedule and we will gladly include them. No demos please but we will include E.P.’s if they’re available for purchase. If you do decide to purchase any of this week’s albums please do so via the links below as that does help to fund this webzine.)
