EXCLUSIVE PREMIER: Spanish Experimental Progressive Band Obisidian Kingdom’s “A Year With No Summer”

Prog Metal Zone is very pleased to be the exclusive site for the premier of Spanish experimental metal band Obsidian Kingdom‘s new album “A Year With No Summer” due out on Season Of Mist on Friday March 11. We reviewed their independently released debut album “Mantiis” when it came out in 2012 and raved about the album that the band called “an agony in 14 bites” and said that “it feels like a symphony with all of the twists and turns you’d expect from that kind of a musical structure.  And it’s bleak – dark and eerie but also very beautiful and compelling.” Since then the band’s been signed to a great record label and are set to release their long awaited follow-up album which you can now preview via the YouTube link below.

Per the band, Obsidian Kingdom is “An independent music project founded in Barcelona in 2005, Obsidian Kingdom first received acclaim from the European indie scene through their self-released concept album ‘Mantiis – An Agony in Fourteen Bites’ (2012).Obsidian Kingdom defy both tradition and their black metal origins, as they create their own unique style, by eschewing conventions and genre boundaries.Obsidian Kingdom‘s journey continues onward with its stellar new album ‘A Year With No Summer’. The new album sees the band re-emerge more confident, melodic, and expressive than ever before. Stunning songs “Away/Absent”, “Darkness”, “Black Swan” and the title track swell with explosive choruses, deft atmospherics, glitchy electronic flourishes, and subtle hooks that remain long-after the tracks are done. ‘A Year With No Summer’ is a quiet storm, and establishes OBSIDIAN KINGDOM as a progressive force to be reckoned with.”
